Pharmacogenetic Testing
What is pharmacogenetic testing?
Pharmacogenetics, also called pharmacogenomics, is the study of how genes affect the body's response to certain medicines. It is a good idea to use this form of testing to find out what medications would be a good fit for you and to see which ones could be potentially dangerous for you if taken.
Genes are parts of DNA passed down from your mother and father. They carry information that determines your unique traits, such as height and eye color. This form of testing allows you to beforehand what would be a good "medication-fit" for you.
People with a history of significant side effects to medication will benefit from this as well as those on the verge on starting new medications.
Pharmacogenetic testing is non-invasive. It is as simple as a swab inside your cheek. Call our office to discuss and schedule one.
Nutrigenomic Testing
What is Nutrigenomic Testing?
Nutrigenomic testing is an evaluation of different genetic markers to generate a comprehensive report of findings along with a set of recommendations to help an individual achieve their desired level of fitness.
You will get a detailed personalized nutrition profile that will help you determine the perfect ratio of carbs, proteins, and fats for your body.
You will be provided with recommendations regarding diet, exercise, and lifestyle based on your genetic makeup.
You will get an insight into your genetic predisposition for exercise. Using this information you can determine whether or not you will be able to benefit from a particular type of workout, such as strength training or cardio workouts.
It is a non-invasive test, which means that you will not be required to provide a blood sample. Instead, a simple saliva sample will be used to evaluate different genetic markers and provide you with a personalized nutrition profile.
