Out of Your Comfort Zone
“I haven’t met any one who particularly craves carrot or celery” I said at one of our follow up visits
She was upset at the health coach I had referred her to
They had discussed emotional eating and she was adamant that was not a correct description of her status
I paused
It was clearly a touchy subject
“We are all emotional eaters” I told her
Like you guessed… I didn’t stop there
“We eat when we are happy
Also sometimes when we are sad
It’s not unique to you so don’t take it personally”
We discussed cravings
How they are specific
Usually something spicy, buttery, greasy , high corn fructose-y, meaty …
We laughed
She got my drift
We talked strategies to deal with those cravings
I encouraged her to listen to a Facebook live I had done with Dr Catherine H Toomern how to eat through the holidays!
We discussed reattemping connecting with a health coach now that we had a better understanding of intended message!
Conversations are important in the journey of living long and well!
Pleasant and sometimes uncomfortable ones.
Conversations continue…
In health,
Dr. O
