I was having a heart to heart with my 6 year old daughter.
During the conversation -centering around her new school wear- she asked “mommy can you do something to make me beautiful-er?”
My heart sank a little!
Then, recognizing this as a teaching opportunity I said -amongst other things -
“Darling, you are already so beautiful inside and out.”
I can ruminate on why and how she got to this thought..
Perhaps it was “brown skin” issues that have come up at school in the past year to two...
Notwithstanding, truth is there will always be circumstances that may challenge your status as beautifully and wonderfully made and sometimes cause you to challenge the narrative on how awesome you are by virtue of who made you! (That was a mouthful )
In those times- I’m reminded...“I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!” Psalms 139:14 TPT”
They say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
I say “behold your beauty then.”
My daughter is beautiful! So are you!
